Wushu player Yumnam Sanathoi of Manipur is the 3rd wushu player to receive Arjuna Award

Manipur players have won 16 Arjuna awards in its sporting history. Players of Boxing, Judo, Hockey, Archery and Wushu have won the award for a total of 15 in numbers. With the award in wushu comes from Yumnam Sanathoi in 2015, Manipur has got 16 Arjuna awardees. Wushu sanshou fighter Sanathoi is the 3rd wushu player and 16th sports person from Manipur to receive the prestigious Arjuna Award when she won in 2015. Earlier Mayanglambam Bimoljit and Wangkhem Sandhyarani received the awards. All are sanshou players.

She won gold medals in 3rd South Asian Wushu Championship 2008, 11th South Asian Games 2010; silver medals in 3rd Asian Junior Wushu Championship 2005, 7th Asian Wushu Championship 2008, 1st Asian Martial Art Games 2009, 11th World Wushu Championship 2011, 12th World Wushu Championship 2013.

She won a bronze medal in 8th Asian Wushu Championship 2012. In the 17th Asian Games 2014 (September 19 – October 4) at Incheon in South Korea, she won a bronze medal for India in women’s 52kg category.
