Five times world champion Arambam Boby of India once again proved his might as he has won Mr. Asia title at the ongoing 51st Asian Body Building & Physique Sports Championship 2017 in South Korea. Mr Boby who is touted as the best Indian bodybuilder India has ever produced has won Mr Asia 2 times and 2 runner-up titles in the previous editions, now 3 times with this title. The bodybuilder from Manipur now based in Assam is the only Indian to have won World Bodybuilding Championships titles for five times. He is also 12 times Mr. India holder.
Mr Boby who used to contest in 75kg category competed in 80kg category in this Asian championship. The muscleman who won silver medal in the last 50th Asian Bodybuilding Championship 2016 could change the colour of the medal into gold when he dominated the rest of the Asian competitors in this current championship. He won gold while Rasoul Zaei Olia of Iran and Sirichai Daothaisong of Thailand won silver and bronze medals respectively.
Arambam Boby who is fully funded by IBBF in this championship made sensation when he won world championships titles for three consecutive times from 2010 to 2012. He won back to back world titles in World Body Building Championship ( Varanasi, India ) 2010, World Body Building Championship (Malaysia, Malacca) 2011 and World Body Building Championship 2012, Bangkok, Thailand making him the first Indian bodybuilder to achieve the feat.
In women’s section, former Asian champion Mamota Yumnam won silver medal in over 52kg category. Compatriot Kongbrailatpam Rebita had to content with 4th position in the category while Paklu Taipodia got 5th position.
