Washmir Epham of Manipur bags world title, wins the first gold medal for India in World Bodybuilding Championships 2016

Young bodybuilder Washmir Epham of Manipur becomes Mr World 2016 by winning a gold medal at the 8th WBPF World Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Championships 2016 (29th November – 5th December) Pattaya City, Thailand.

He competed in junior men’s below 75kg category. With this, he has become the first Meetei Pangan / Muslim to win a world title in bodybuiilding. His gold medal is also the first gold medal for India in the championship. Bodybuilders from Mongolia and Thailand won silver and bronze medals respectively.

Recently, Washmir also represented India and won silver medal in below 70kg category of Junior-I at the ABBF 50th Asian Bodybuilding & Physique Sports Championships 2016 (30th August – 5th September) held in Thimpu, Bhutan.
