Thingbaijam Sarita defends her title, Yumnam Shitaljit becomes Mr India  2017

Thingbaijam Sarita defended her national tilte in bodybuilding when she won gold medal in women’s open category at the 7th Junior / Masters / Physically Challenged and Senior Men’s Sports Physique / Women’s Sport Model and Women’s Bodybuilding National Championship 2017 held at Indore, Madhya Pradesh. In the competition, Varsha Bhagchandani from Maharastra took the silver medal while bronze medal was won by former wushu player Wangkhem Jamuna of Manipur. Thingbaijam Sarita won the tilte in the last edition in 2016. She is currently India’s number one woman bodybuilder.

In the championships, Yumnam Sitaljit Singh also won the Junior Mr. India 2017 title in men’s 65kg category.

The competition was held in six weight groups upto 55kg, 60kg,65kg,70kg,75kg and above 75kg for men’s junior section; upto 60kg and above 60kg for physically challenged section; above 40 years, below 50 years- above 50 years and below 60 years – above 60 years for masters; open category for women’s body building; open category for men’s sports physique and open category for women’s sports model.
