SSB wins men’s regu title, Manipur becomes runner up in 27th National Sepak Takraw Championship 2017

Manipur men’s sepak takraw team had to settle for silver medal in men’s regu event. The SSB team which had the international players like Manipur beat with 21-15 and 21-19 points in straight set.

Earlier, in the 1st league match, Manipur men’s team beat Uttarakhand by 2-0 with 21-2 and 21-2 points, Himachal Prade-0 with 21-0 and 21-7 points and Uttar Pradesh by 2-0 with 21-6 and 21-7 points. Manipur beat Assam by 2-0 with 21-14 and 21-9 points in the semi final.

It was a perfect reply for the SSB team as it lost to Manipur in a neck and neck contest in men’s team event. In the league matches, SSB beat Mizoram, Odisha, Karnataka, Haryana, Goa and Madhya Pradesh. The team defeated Andhra Pradesh in straight sets with 21-7  and 21-9 points before beating Delhi in another straight sets with 21-8  and 21-10 points in the semi final. In the final, it beat powerhouse Manipur in straight sets with  21-15  and  21-19 points. The teams of Manipur and SSB had the best players of the Indian men’s sepak takraw team.
