Seram Nirupama wins three bronze medals in 19th Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championships 2017

 

After Konsam Ormila bagged a gold medal on the opening day of the 19th Asian Youth (Boys & Girls) Weightlifting Championships 2017, Seram Nirupama won three bronze medals in the competition. Nirupama lifted 79kg in snatch and 99kg in clean and jerk for a total of 178kg to win the bronze in the 69kg youth girls’ category. The girl from Manipur represented India in 2016 IWF Youth World Penang, Malaysia.

In men’s categories, India added two bronze medals. Ajay Singh lifted 143kg in snatch and 172kg in clean and jerk for a total lift of 315kg to bag bronze medal in men’s category. Lovepreet Singh lifted 151kg in snatch and 180kg in clean and jerk totalling 331kg to win bronze medal for India.

Five weightlifters from Manipur —  Konsom Ormila (44kg), P Umeshwori (63kg), Seram Nirupama (69kg), Arambam Anju (75kg), Meitram Purnima Chanu (53kg) represented India in the championships.
