Three times Olympian archer Laishram Bombayla and Khuraijam Ratan will represent India at the Berlin 2017 World Cup Archery Stage 4 which will be held from August 8 to 13, 2017. The Arjuna awardee archer who has brought laurels to India on various occasions will be competing in recurve events in this global contest. She represented the country in Olympic Games of Beijing, London and Rio Olympics respectively.
Another state lad Khuraijam Ratan who also brought laurels to the country will compete in compound event. The Services archer was a member of the Indian men’s compound team which won gold medals at the 18th Asian Archery Championships 2013, Chinese Taipei and 5th Asian Archery Grand Prix 2009, Bangladesh. The archer from Manipur was also a member of the Indian men’s team which won bronze medal in Shanghai 2015 World Cup Archery Stage 1.
The Indian team will also feature Olympians Deepika Kumari and Abhishek Verma who will boost the confidence of the team. Recently, Indian compound trio comprising Abhishek Verma, Chinn Raju Srither and Amanjeet Singh defeated Colombian Team to win the nation’s first ever gold medal in Compound event in Archery World Cup Stage 1 which was held at Shanghai, China from 16th to 21st May, 2017.
The star studded Indian archery team will be represented by:
Men’s recurve: Sachin Gupta, Jayanta Talukdar, Atanu Das and Tarundeep Rai
Women’s recurve: Monika Saren, Laishram Bombayla, Deepika Kumari and Promila Daimary
Men’s compound: Aman Saini, Amanjeet Singh, Abhishek Verma and Khuraijam Ratan.
Women’s compound: Jyoti Surekha Vennam, Snehal Mandhare, Trisha Deb and Khusbu Dhayal.
