Manipur wushu team clinches overall team championship title at National School Games U-19 Wushu Championship 2016

After making records in junior world wushu championships 2016 and world talu cup 2016, young wushu players of Manipur showed their dominance when they won the overall championship title at the National School Games 2016 U-19 Wushu Championship, Bhopal which was held from 22nd to 26th November, by bagging 8 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze medals.

In the championship, two girls Naorem Romita and Thongam Aruna won gold medals in 52kg and 56kg sanshou events respectively. Loushambam Kalpana won silver medal in 48kg category while Kshetrimayum Naobi won bronze medal in 65kg category of sanshou.

In the boy’s section, Haobijam Romesh in 48kg, Athokpam James Meitei in 52kg, Moirangthem Energy in 56kg, Khaidem Shekharjit in 60kg, Moirangthem Malemnganba in 65kg and Ningthoukhongjam Lalit in 70kg won gold medals in sanshou events. Moirangthem Samson won silver medal in 44kg of sanshou event.

The Manipur team was led by Mayanglambam Bimoljit as manager and Th Binapani as coach.
