Manipur beats Haryana, aims for 18th title at the 21st Senior Women’s National Football Championship 2015-16

Manipur senior women’s team beat Haryana team 4-2 to qualify for the final of the 21st Senior Women’s National Football Championship 2015-16. The team of Manipur has also won the championship title for 13 consecutive times from 1998 to 2010. Manipur which has won the title for maximum number of times will be aiming to add another title.

 

Manipur took the early lead when captain of Manipur team Oinam Bembem who is playing her final competitive football scored a goal in 17th minute. Striker Ngangom Bala made a hat-trick when she scored three consecutive goals in 30th, 54th and 61st minutes respectively.

 

Haryana scored the goals in the dying minutes of the match and scored two goals.

 

Railways team on the other hand qualified for the final for the first time after thrashing Odisha by 4-0. The team has six Manipuri women footballers who played for Manipur and India. The two teams will meet in the final match which will be played on 15th January, 2016.
