Chongtham Mahadeva and Yensembam Jiban win gold medals for India at the 4th International Martial Arts Games 2015

Ch Mahadeva and Y Jiban won gold medals at the 4th International Martial Arts Games 2015 (May 5-10), Dhaka, Bangladesh Mahadeva won gold medal in men’s 60kg category fight event. He has won many gold medals at national championships and represented India many times.  Earlier, he won bronze medal at the 3rd Asian Indoor Games 2009 in Vietnam. He also won two silver medals for India at the 1st Asian Vovinam Championships, Iran.

On the other hand, Y Jiban won two gold medals in the said championship. He won gold medals in men’s 48kg category fight and ngu mon quyen event. He had won more than 12 gold medals at national level. He won a bronze medal for India at the world vovinam championship in Vietnam. In this championship, India won 5 gold medals of which 3 were won by Ch Mahadeva and Y Jiban.

Vovinam is a martial arts game of Vietnam. It is a very young game in India. However, India has been performing well in this game. The performance of Manipur players in the game is quite remarkable.
